All automation playlists are simple text files. The content and structure of the data within the playlist file is unique to each professional playout/automation system. Many of the playout systems for internet radio use a common playlist file type that ends with the extension: .m3u
Music 1 produces both types of .m3u playlists; standard and extended
The playlists may be exported as a single, full-day list; or as 24 one-hour playlists.
M3U playlists are very simple and do not allow for player commands for such things as launching a particular audio track at a specific time, like starting a news program at 30 past the hour, or switching to a network feed at a specific time.
